Exhibition about the Monastero di Claro

The cloister, the history, the community

Design and development of an exhibition on the Monastero di Santa Maria Assunta sopra Claro.

Why the Association Amici del Monastero di Claro decided to organized an exhibition on the cloister?
In 2006 the monastery hosted an exhibition about St. Benedict, and about 3'000 people, including a lot of schoo classes, visited the small monastery to visit it. The community was happy with it, because it was a great way to get in touch with the local community and testify their message - the presence of Christ in this world. So they decided to make a new event in 2007, with an original exhibition about the monastery itself.

How is the exhibition structured?
It is composed by three sections: 22 posters describing the cloister history and geography and the nuns community life; a virtual tour showing the most relevant spots of the cloister; and a video describing a nun’s day from sunrise to sunset. All these parte were designed and produced by seed, that coordinated the collection of content and also the set-up of the exhibition within the monastery.

How was shooting in a Cloister?
It has been an extraordinary experience to spend a day completely in silence following the nuns in their daily life from the twilight to the evening, discovering how full and active the life in a cloister is.
