noWomannoLife island in Second Life

A 3D virtual space for the non profit sector

Design and implementation of a Second Life island on behalf of the foundation noWomannoLife; design promotion and event managemtn of the island and its activities.

Whose idea is it?
Marco Calmes, co-funder or the foundation noWomannolIfe, dreamt of a place where non profit practitioners around the world could meet and share ideas. He discovered Second Life and took the challenge of making it not only a place for partying.

Why a non profit island in Second Life?
The challenge is not only to increase awareness of non profit activities in the Real Life, but to involve residents in experiencing the non profit world in Second Life.

How is the island conceived?
In the island you can find an Education Centre, where NGOs can organize events and conferences, the Souk, where NGOs can sell products sponsoring their Real Life activities; an NGOs village, hosting NGOs headquarters; a Beduin camp, for organizing casual events; and the Art for Life Gallery, hosting famous painters exhibition.

What happens on the island?
The NGOs active in the island organize events related to their specific activities. A blog dedicated to the non profit world in Second Life and on activities happening in the island has been created: humanitarianlife.blogspot.com
